Leshavult v Goblins

Image
Leshavult v Goblins Zorya Danica Antonia Kavanagh Beast Wendigo Firespitter Beaky Bobby Seasick Stu Boob Boom McBoom El Capitano Vicious Midget The goblins win the roll-off and choose the side, giving themselves the slight advantage of having four moonstones closer to them and slightly less deep. Turn 1 Zorya begins in a typical witchy way, using Visions of the Future on Danica, triggering her catastrophe to wound and distribute energy to the rest of the troupe. They use this to surge forward this turn. Firespitter responds by targeting Zorya, dealing and additional 2 damage. Antonia tries to heal her, but is caught in a bluff and end up reducing her fellow witch to only two wounds! Beaky Bobby is the first to fully harvest a moonstone. He also shouts at Firespitter, pushing him further towards the Leshavult line. El Capitano waits patiently for the Beast to finish his activation, before taking a shot with his pistol. Kavanagh steps in to block line of sight for a second ...

Fauns v. Humans

Image
This was an opportunity for me to field a painted Old Calders, Billy and Wendigo for the first time, and to try to get myself liking Fauns. Did I succeed? Read on to find out… Fauns Boris Chubs Wendigo Jackalope Brother Daniel Humans Fritz Billy Old Calders Sir Hogswash Eric the Squire Humans win the roll-off and choose the side – which turns out to be a bigger advantage than I’d thought when deciding whether or not to call mulligan: three moonstones right by their deployment zone and another two (at depth 3) within easy reach. Turn 1 The turn begins as a harvest-fest, with Billy, Eric, Jackalope, Old Calders and Brother Daniel all harvesting and moving towards the enemy. Chubs uses Rouse on Boris, giving him the energy to summon two bunnies, which bound forward towards the moonstones in the centre of the board. Meanwhile, Fritz stakes a claim to the others. I’ll leave you to decide which is the most convincing.     Who would you rather be up against? Wendigo uses his Min...

Humans v. Goblins

Image
The goblins have been getting a lot of action in these reports, but this is the first time they’re controlled by me. My objective: to prove the worth of Vicious Midget, who has failed miserably to make an impact in almost all the games so far. Did I succeed? Read on and find out! Humans Baron von Fancyhat Eric the Squire Sir Hogswash (freshly painted!) Flintlock Friar Flavious Dim & Dimmer Goblins (me) Vicious Midget Goblin King Mortician Seasick Stu Firespitter Grub The goblins win the roll-off and chose the side; humans have initiative. The initial set-up (minus a Fancyhat and Firespitter activation) looks like this:  (You can’t quite see Grub, but he’s skulking about by one of those standing stones) Turn 1 Baron von Fancyhat helps Eric to harvest the first moonstone. Firespitter harvests the one just next to him. Grub does his Wyrmhole to come out by the wall near Fancyhat, staking claim to the depth 4 moonstone and harvesting it down to a value of 2. Grub in a...

Goblins v Faeries (real-life this time!)

Image
I know that this will make many of you green with envy, but I managed to get in an actual, real game against an actual other person the other week. (I’m in Switzerland, so it’s allowed). And it was a good one. Here’s the report. Goblins Doug the Flatulent (a.k.a. My most hated goblin ever!) Beaky Bobby Firespitter Boom Boom McBoom Viscious Midget Dim & Dimmer Faeries (me, trying to use models I don’t normally use, including a first play of a freshly-painted Boulder) The Fencer Belladonna Butterfingers Gwendoline Herbert Growbottom Boulder A brief note on the setup: We ended up with an unusual setup of moonstones, all pretty much in a line across the centre of the board. The goblin player had already called mulligan so the choice was mine. I figured that even they were all central, the moonstones were in a long line so I had the possibility to outflank the goblins and pick off the ones on the sides. There were some deep moonstones but I had Boulder and Herbert to help harvesti...

Goblins v Faeries (Tabletop Simulator)

Image
This report is of the third game of Paul v Paolo on Tabletop Simulator. Last time around, the goblins struggled to make much of a mark against the faeries, with Ribald and the Goblin Airship having trouble targeting anything. This time, the goblins are tooled up with anti/faery tech and are out for revenge! Goblins Doug the Flatulent The Mortician Shabaroon Firespitter Grub Dim and Dimmer Faeries (Rogues) The Fencer Silvertongue Belladonna Muridae Teetoe Fraya Turn 1 The goblins surge forward, forgetting temporarily about the moonstones all around them. Shabaroon casts Goblin Mischief and distributes energy to Firespitter, Doug and the Mortician, whilst taking a catastrophe for himself. Shabaroon’s luck is matched by that of Dim and Dimmer, who starts the game with a catastrophe, bashing himself over the head as he lumbers forward.                                 The two troupes close in on on...

Solo Moonstone Report Leshavult v Humans

Image
Here’s a mini-battle report of a solo game, inspired by a Facebook thread a few weeks back about solo gaming. Plus I wanted to try out a newly-painted Fritz and Kavanagh- and use Black Comedy on the Revenant to restore him to full health. Humans: Fritz, Agatha, Flintlock, Friar Flavius and Kaufmann. Leshavult: Zorya, Danica, Kavanagh, the Revenant and Loubard.  Turn 1 The Revenant surges ahead for the moonstones. Flintlock and Natty shoot, but to no effect. But now something awesome happens: Agatha pulls Fritz forward with an enticing offer and Kaufmann tempts Danica and Kavanagh with an even more enticing shower of gold. This allows Fritz to activate and dispatch Danica and Kavanagh in the first turn! Turn 2 Daniel gives Loubard energy with which to exact revenge, but Fritz steps in before Loubard can activate Righteous Fury. Fritz regrets it instantly, playing 2 rising attacks against 2 Falling Swings. He deals 5 damage but suffers 8. He tries again and Loubard finishes him off, ...
