Leshavult v Goblins
Zorya
Danica
Antonia
Kavanagh
Beast
Wendigo
Firespitter
Beaky Bobby
Seasick Stu
Boob Boom McBoom
El Capitano
Vicious Midget
The goblins win the roll-off and choose the side, giving themselves the slight advantage of having four moonstones closer to them and slightly less deep.
Turn 1
Zorya begins in a typical witchy way, using Visions of the Future on Danica, triggering her catastrophe to wound and distribute energy to the rest of the troupe. They use this to surge forward this turn. Firespitter responds by targeting Zorya, dealing and additional 2 damage. Antonia tries to heal her, but is caught in a bluff and end up reducing her fellow witch to only two wounds!
Beaky Bobby is the first to fully harvest a moonstone. He also shouts at Firespitter, pushing him further towards the Leshavult line.
El Capitano waits patiently for the Beast to finish his activation, before taking a shot with his pistol. Kavanagh steps in to block line of sight for a second shot and the goblin ends up missing everything.
Danica decides she’s had enough of all this shooting, and meddles with fate, removing the two blue twos from the deck. That doesn’t stop Boom Boom from targeting the Beast with his blunderbuss. Of course, he draws the 3!
Wendigo harvests a moonstone and stalks towards the Firespitter. Vicious Midget doesn’t know which way to go, so his heads straight forward, hedging his bets about where the action will be.
At the end of the turn, the goblins are winning by two moonstones (Beaky and Seasick Stu) to one (Wendigo)
Turn 2
Antonia bluffs successfully this turn, healing Zorya with a non-existent blue 2.
Seasick Stu harvests a moonstone and uses Seasick to drain Kavanagh of all his energy (there’s that blue 3 again!). Then the goblin proceeds to run away with his two moonstones!
The Beast goes after Vicious Midget, who steps in and delivers two thrusts against the Beast’s two falling swings. Beast is down to 2 wounds. The Midget follows up with an attack the the Beast Bellows him away.
Zorya charges the Firespitter, who is mesmerised into standing and fighting. He does quite well for himself, dealing 2 wounds and sustaining 3.
Beaky Bobby starts shouting again, moving Zorya out of the way, so that he can harvest another moonstone. Wendigo responds by Mind Controlling Firespitter and getting him to attack Beaky Bobby. The goal isn’t to damage the goblin, though. He forces Firespitter to play his signature move, Panic & Flee, and discard all his energy. No fireblasts this turn!
Boom Boom Sucker-punches Beast, but this backfires badly when Beast counters Boom Boom’s two Rising Attacks with a Low Guard, before countering with two Falling Swings. Bye bye, Boom Boom!
Danica restores Zorya with Visions of the Past.
El Capitano Hits and attacks Kavanagh with two Sweeping cuts versus a Rising Attack, dealing a massive 7 damage. The gnome’s signature move gives him extra energy, which he uses to go for it against El Capitano’s next attack. Even with two extra defensive cards, it’s not enough to save him.
Goblins are firmly in the lead 3 moonstones (Seasick 2, Beaky 1) to 1 (Wendigo)
Turn 3
Seasick Stu continues to flee, with the Beast hot on his tail. The Beast manages one attack against Seasick, which deals no damage. When the goblin steps out of his range, the Beast directs his wrath towards El Capitano. The Beast plays 3 sweeping cuts but the goblin is lucky enough to play a high guard, minimising the damage. El Capitano strikes back, Hitting Beast. They both perish in the combat.
Wendigo again Mind Controls Firespitter, forcing him to attack and then Panic & Flee.
Vicious Midget attacks Zorya, dealing a massive 5 wounds. She survives only by stepping away, with the goblin in pursuit. Antonia then heals Zorya, playing the ever-popular blue 3.
Zorya circles around Vicious Midget and attacks Beaky Bobby, but he immediately heals his wounds. He then attacks back, playing his signature thrust, but Zorya has a sweeping cut. She strikes back, taking him down to 1 wound.
Danica finished the turn by casting Visions of the Past, fully restoring Zorya again.
The goblins still lead 3 moonstones (2 Seasick, 1 Beaky) to 1 (Wendigo), but in fact it’s very close as Beaky is almost downed and the Leshavult are about to harvest two moonstones that they’ve been picking away at all night.
Turn 4 (no photos from this one, I’m afraid- I got too excited!)
Goblins win the roll-off and Vicious Midget attacks Zorya, dealing 2 wounds and chasing her off so that he can harvest the moonstone.
Wendigo harvests, then once again Mind Controls the Firespitter to attack Beaky Bobby. He goes offensive this time, playing 2 thrusts, but Beaky has a sweeping cut! The Firespitter now has a chance to shoot. He targets the Wenigo, playing the blue 3 (!) and dealing 6 wounds.
Antonia attempts to finish Beaky Bobby with Visions of the Present, but she declines to bluff, as the catastrophe would kill her. Good thing too, as Beaky had both 3s.
Seasick Stu continues to run but doesn’t quite make it off the table.
Danica harvests the last moonstone but it’s not enough. Goblins win 4 moonstones (2 Seasick, 1 Beaky, 1 Midget) to 3 (2 Wendigo, 1 Danica)
Post-game thoughts
This is probably the best I’ve played with the Leshavult – certainly with Wendigo. It’s the only game he’s survived and he was great, harvesting two moonstones and neutralising Firespitter for most of the game. The Leshavult were quite unlucky with the cards (who’d have thought that Danica removing the blue 2s would guarantee the blue 3 would turn up every time?!) and they had an uphill struggle getting control of the moonstones. Zorya did a sterling job defending one for most of the game, but the Vicious Midget’s plate armour is hard to crack without any damage buffs!
I’ve only just finished painting all Antonia, so it’s the first time I’ve played with all three witches. I’ll definitely be doing that again!
