Four player Moonstone report

Brilliant 4 player game this weekend. Humans (Fancyhat, Eric, Brunhilde) v Faeries (Wasp, Fraya, Silvertongue) v Leshavult (Danica, Daniel, Loubard) v Gnomes (Mama Gimble, Morris, Joanna). Here’s a mini report:

Faeries were rather bold and went straight for the humans - which was a low blow, as they were controlled by a newbie player (although they admittedly had the best Moonstone placement). Unfortunately, the fae misjudged how far Brunhilde could move, with her larger reaction step. Fraya went down in turn 1 and Wasp in turn 2. Silvertongue did do some damage, blowing up Fancyhat’s pistol and getting him to attack his squire, but with an angry giant around, it didn’t have a big impact.

Meanwhile, Loubard took on Joanna, using Righteous Fury with the extra energy granted by Daniel. He took her down in 2 attacks but only after Joanna did him significant damage with a critical hit of 3 Rising attacks. Mama Gimble stepped in an finished him off with her rolling pin.

So, by the end of turn 2, faeries were pretty much out of it with 0 moonstones, humans had 4(!), Gnomes 2 and Leshavult 1.

Turns 3 and 4 saw things get even more interesting, with Gimble and Daniel fighting it out to get an extra moonstone, forgetting all about the humans, who were still running away with it. Unfortunately, the humans were their own worst enemy. A combination of Silvertongue and Danica’s puppeteer ability saw Fancyhat kill Eric and Brunhilde kill Fancyhat. Brunhilde just about managed to pick up a moonstone to make it into sudden death.

Sudden death started with the faeries having 0 moonstones, the humans 2 (with Brunhilde guarding another 2, dropped by her fallen comrades), Leshavult 2 (Daniel having finally slain Mama Gimble), and Gnomes 1 (good old Morris!).

The humans won the roll-off so started first. Fortunately for the Leshavult, Danica had the foresight at the end of Turn 4 to move her puppet Brunhilde 3 steps away from the moonstones she was guarding. This meant that Brunhilde only had enough energy to step back into contact with the moonstones, but not pick them up. Danica then moved Brunhilde away a step, just enough so that she could sweep in and touch the corner of one of the moonstones, just outside of Brunhilde’s 2” engagement range. 1 energy left to harvest. Game to Leshavult!

Many memorable moments. I’m growing to like the Leshavult. They are a rag-tag bunch but they work well together!

Unfortunately, I only thought to take one here, which isn’t great quality, but here is it. There’s a good reason why no faeries appear in the shot!
